Set in the desert of Almería, in southern Spain, the story follows Lucio Vidal, a reclusive seventy-year-old painter who, affected by dementia, becomes obsessed with a video tape. He lives alone with his dog Leo, and his few interactions with the outside world are limited to the occasional visits from his neighbour Isabel.

As Lucio begins to have strange dreams and hear noises in his home, he decides to return to a project he had left behind. In his desperate attempt to recover his most cherished memory and reconcile with his past, Lucio is driven to lose control of reality as his memories and ghosts come to life.
