To Face the Wind explores silence and forgetting through my grandfather's film archive, who died young leaving behind a widow and two children. I discover his story at 19, never having heard about it before, and began an obsessive search for his image and voice through the Super8 and 8mm films he shot. With the reluctant help of my grandmother, who had chosen to forget, I explore the connection with him through home movies and the places where he filmed in the village of Talarn. The film becomes a tribute that returns these forgotten images to the family, and an attempt to heal the loss by replicating his cinematographic gaze and connecting it with mine.
