On the coast of Cádiz, a group of sub-Saharan migrants is intercepted and taken to a sports centre to spend the night. Among them is Awa, a 13-year-old girl, dressed as a boy. While trying to get in touch with her cousin who lives in Seville, Awa remembers the most important episodes of her journey, since the war forced her to flee from the Ivory Coast with her mother, until she crossed the strait in a boat. Throughout the journey, Awa imagines that the adventures of the legendary warrior Akwa Boni are a reflection of her experiences. This is how she faces the hardest moments and keeps the memory of her mother alive, hoping to see her again one day.
