Lati, a rapper of African descent, dreams of making it in freestyle battles, having found her refuge in music after her father's death. Her mother, a Muslim with traditional values, disapproves, considering it dangerous and vulgar. Lati will train secretly with Judy, a former freestyler disowned by the scene, who at first only seeks to take advantage of her, but then discovers her true talent and decides to mentor her. As she struggles to excel in the freestyle world, family tensions grow when her mother, under family pressure, decides to exhume Lati's father so he can be buried according to Muslim rites.
